The Behaviour Change
Clinic
Our Approach | Main
Using peer-mediated
research, our approach is based on the most recent
interventions proven to work with children with
autism. ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) plays a key
role on all of our programmes.
Each of our
programmes target communication skills, play skills,
social skills, behaviour management, as well as
suitable academic targets. We aim to teach
functional language. That is, language which is
used naturally rather than “specifically taught”.
For example, if we teach a child what a duck is, we
use multiple examples of ducks (to prevent over
generalization), what a duck sounds like, looks
like, and can be described as.
All of our
programmes are written by our Lead Consultant, Tana
Richards. Outside professionals such as Occupational
Therapists, Physiotherapists, SALT, and teachers are
invited to be included when devising your child’s
programme. |
